It is a very frequent question, the result of little knowledge about the two options.

“Not always the best option will be a dental implant or the most economically expensive option, it is important to take into account the conditions and expectations of each patient before choosing any of the two options.”

Added to this is the need for each patient, according to the state of their maxillary bones (amount of bone available), periodontal status (gums), occlusion (bite), and condition of the adjacent teeth.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant, are replacements of a dental root, covered with a ceramic crown also called a replacement tooth. While a dental bridge is a structure composed of a set of crowns that serve to simulate and replace the natural shape of the teeth.

Although in appearance both the implant and the bridge meet the same need, which is to replace the lost tooth. However, both implants and bridges are analyzed in detail and present a series of advantages and disadvantages to consider.

Advantage of an implant over a bridge?

The main great advantage of an implant over a bridge is that an implant also replaces the root of the tooth. This prevents the loss of the tooth from ending up affecting the bone. Furthermore, one of the biggest drawbacks of bridges is that they require minimal wear on healthy neighboring teeth.

Therefore, we will say that the choice will depend on each case, on the needs and aspects that give importance at the time of making the decision.
